Toles' Effort Helps Panthers to Third Straight Win

OWENSBORO, KY. – Playing shorthanded on Wednesday night, the Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team picked-up a 73-62 victory over Indiana University Southeast. Quentin Toles and Logan McIntire carried the offensive weight as both finished with over 20 points.

The Panthers won their third straight contest to move to 3-2 on the season. Terrence Ringo Jr. left the game after the opening tip, but it did not slow down Wesleyan's production at the historic Sportscenter. Wesleyan outscored the Grenadiers 38-25 with points in the paint as their first five field goals came from the post position, including the opening dunk by Edward Jones Jr.

Quentin Toles gave the Panthers a 22-12-point lead midway through the opening half. Toles also helped spark a rally over the final seven minutes of the first half. The Panthers outscored IU Southeast 18-9 to end the half and take a 45-29 lead at the break. The duo of Toles and McIntire accounted for 29 points in the first 20 minutes. Wesleyan shot 58% in the opening half to IUSE's 39%.

The lead grew to as many as 24 points with 11 minutes left in the game. The Panthers started to slow down offensively thereafter as they did not hit a shot from the perimeter in the second half. A 19-point Wesleyan lead dwindled to 11 points in the final four minutes, but there was never a threat from the Grenadiers.

Toles produced an all-around game with 25 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. McIntire added 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Jones recorded 10 points while Fatih Huyuk pulled-in 10 rebounds to go along with his nine points.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday. Wesleyan will host King University at The Sportscenter with tip-off scheduled for 12PM.
