MIDLAND, MI. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Northwood on Saturday morning. The Panthers found the equalizer at the start of the second half, but the Timberwolves scored late to escape the upset bid.
The Timberwolves moved to 11-1-5 on the season with a 9-1-3 record in the Great Midwest. The Panthers on the other hand fall to 5-12 overall and 4-9 in league play.
Northwood scored in the 17
th minute to take a quick 1-0 lead. They took five shots in the opening half with only one on goal.
Emily Goff tried to the match in the 29
th minute, but her shot missed left. Off a Timberwolves foul in the 39
th minute the Panthers had two golden chances,
Haylie Panter and
Sydney Tucker both saw their attempts to tie the game saved.
Northwood outshot the Panthers 5-4 in the opening 45 minutes. Wesleyan attacked quick at the start of the second half with Tucker finding
Steeley Walker for the equalizer within the first minute of play.
The match would remain at 1-1until the 77
th minute, when Northwood took a 2-1 lead with goal. They would add one more in the 84
th minute to provide insurance for the end of the match.
Northwood was on the attack throughout the second half out-shooting the Panthers 12-3. Both Walker and Panter finished the match with two shots.
The Panthers will host Thomas More for their final match of the season on Wednesday evening. The contest at Panther Field is scheduled to start at 5PM.
