Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Ohio Dominican 4-2 on Thursday night at Panther Field.
The Panthers move to 9-3-2 overall and 7-2-2 in the G-MAC, while Ohio Dominican falls to 1-11-2 overall and 1-9-1 in the G-MAC.
Wesleyan gains a game in the all-time series between the two programs as well, with ODU now leading 4-3-2.
Ohio Dominican got off to an incredibly fast start in the match, scoring just 38 seconds in and adding another goal in the 5th minute to take an early 2-0 lead.
Not too long later, the home team bounced right back. Calum Newson notched his seventh goal of the season off assists by Jacob Boling and Haakon Torvbraaten, cutting the deficit in half in the 11th minute.
Right before the half, Wesleyan took the lead for good. A penalty kick score by Torvbraaten, his second goal in 2024, tied the match in the 43rd minute. Then, not even a minute later Braden Meyers-Curry put the Panthers in the lead at 3-2 with his third goal of the year as Callum Nolan and Santiago Henrich tallied assists on the play.
In the 59th minute, the Panthers earned an insurance score as Pavel Valchev and Jersey Lopez set up Boling for his his second goal this season to double the lead at 4-2.
The win is a strong start to Homecoming week for Kentucky Wesleyan. The rest of the festivities include volleyball tomorrow night vs. Thomas More at 6:00 PM, football vs. Hillsdale on Saturday at 12:00 PM, and men's soccer again vs. Cedarville on Saturday at 3:00 PM for Senior Day.
The men's and women's golf teams also host their home event at The Pearl Club, with the women competing on Saturday and Sunday and the men competing on Monday and Tuesday.
