FINDLAY, OH - Close but no cigar. Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball continues to compete and play well, but late rallies by Findlay in sets one and three propelled them to a 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 22-25).
Findlay improves to 12-3 (6-2 G-MAC) while Wesleyan falls to 2-13 (1-6 G-MAC).
The Panthers pushed the Oilers to their limit in the opening set, taking advantage of three Findlay errors to take a late 21-20 lead. Despite Wesleyan having all the momentum, Findlay came back, scoring five of the final seven points to take the set win. After a second set that was dominated by the Oilers, the third set was close late, with things all tied up at 20-20. Just like the opening set, Wesleyan struggled down the stretch, being outscored 5-2 en-route to the three set loss.
Nicole Hughes led the way with 11 kills, while
Hallie McGuire (10) also reached double-figures. Hughes also registered a season high five blocks in the game.
Julia Kupper tallied 21 assists, and
Embry Burgess notched 13 digs.
The Panthers will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in Jones Gym. Gametime is set for 6 p.m. CT.
