OWENSBORO, KY - Head Coaches
Caleb and Nicole Nieman have officially release their 2023-24 Women's Basketball Schedule. The most successful run of women's basketball at Kentucky Wesleyan continued last season when the Panthers made it to their fifth NCAA Regional, bowing out to #5 Grand Valley State in an overtime thriller.
Kentucky Wesleyan will open their season at Trevecca Nazarene for the Midwest Region Crossover, where they will take on perennial power Drury and GLVC foe Southwest Baptist. The Panthers will host three non-conference games at the Owensboro Sportscenter, taking on Simmons (Ky.) on Wednesday, November 15th, Illinois-Springfield on Monday, November 27th, and Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, December 16th. Wesleyan's road non-conference matchup will be an in-state affair, with the Panthers heading to Frankfort, Kentucky to take on the Kentucky State Thorobreds on Wednesday, November 22nd.
The Panthers open G-MAC play on Thursday, November 30th against the Findlay Oilers. Wesleyan will travel to Crewstview Hills, Kentucky, on Saturday, December 30th, to take on the defending NAIA national runner up, and the 2021-22 NAIA national champion Thomas More Saints. Just two games later, the Panthers will take on the reigning undefeated DII national champion Ashland Eagles, hosting them on Saturday, January 6th. Wesleyan will play eight games in the month of February, closing the month out with a home contest against Ohio Dominican on Thursday, February 29th. KWC will close out their regular season by hosting NCAA Midwest Regional qualifier Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, March 2nd, and will prepare for the G-MAC tournament, which starts on Tuesday, March 5th.
Despite losing two 1000 point scorers in
Tahlia Walton and
Cali Nolot from last year's team, the Nieman's have loaded up with solid transfers and good freshman to help bolster an already impressive roster that includes seniors
Jordyn Barga,
Shiya Hoosier, Shayle McDonald, and
Corina Conley, who have combined to play 358 games in the Panther uniform.
