OWENSBORO, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers had a record 66 athletes honored by the D2 ADA for the 2022-23 academic year. This breaks the record of 60 athletes honored, which was set in 2019-20.Â
The D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues paying member of the D2 ADA.
Also, the student-athlete must:
- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
Overall, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference had 1,182 honorees, good for fifth out of all NCAA DII conferences. Walsh led the G-MAC with 272 athletes on the list.Â
"In a year in which so many Wesleyan records have been set, this is another record broken to add to the impressive list," said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Shook. "The D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards align perfectly with our core principle of Scholarship in our One Team Wesleyan program. This is a great opportunity to showcase our amazing scholar-athletes, and the impactful support of their coaches and staff across our campus. I want to congratulate all the recipients for earning this prestigious award."
