INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Over 2,800 student-athletes from around the league were officially named to the 2022-23 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team, that was released Thursday afternoon. The Kentucky Wesleyan College Athletic Department featured 152 Academic All-Conference honorees, an increase of three from last year and a department record.
The list includes 34 Panther Scholar-Athletes that achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA this year. Leading the department this season was the Football Team which placed 26 members to the Academic All-GMAC list. Women's Soccer compiled 19 while both Baseball and Men's Soccer saw 17 reach a 3.3 GPA or high this academic year. Also of note, the volleyball team had 14 earn Academic All-GMAC distinction while the Women's Basketball team featured 12 honorees this season.
All member institutions, full and associate, once again contributed to significant number across the board. Student-athletes competing in 26 total championship sports were included in this year's list gathered by the Faculty Athletic Representatives and the league's Sports Information Directors.
To be named to the All-Academic Team, the student-athlete's grade point average must be a minimum of 3.30 based on a 4.0 scale. The GPA shall be cumulative for the student-athlete's entire collegiate career and the student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution. Student-athlete GPA's reported by each institution were reflected through the spring semester.
