Angelique McKeny steps down as Men's and Women's Bowling Coach

OWENSBORO, KY - After spending the previous year as the Head Coach for Men's and Women's Bowling, Angelique McKeny has announced she is stepping down from the position.

McKeny spent four years at Kentucky Wesleyan as a bowler and one as an assistant coach before stepping into the head roll last year. In her lone year at the helm of the program, McKeny led both teams to their second straight G-MAC titles, and the women took home their first tournament win in three years at the Quincy Hawk Classic.

"My time coaching at Wesleyan over the last two years has been northing short of memorable," stated McKeny. "I have had so much fun traveling with the teams, making memories, and most importantly establishing connections and friendships with the players. I am so proud of each and every player and what the teams have accomplished in this short amount of time. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances I am unable to continue fulfilling the role of head coach. With that being said, it is my intention to still be a part of the teams as much as possible, just from a different role. I am exceedingly grateful to KWC athletics for giving me the opportunity to lead the very team that I was a part of and will forever hold a special place in my heart."

Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Shook states that "Angelique will be miseed. Her passion for Kentucky Wesleyan College, our student-athletes, and the sport of Collegiate Bowling are second to none. She has built a very solid program in a short amount of time. She helped lead both teams to the inaugural G-MAC Championships in 2022 as an assistant coach and then led both teams to repeat in 2023 as head coach. I love our teams, their drive, and their (women) goals to be an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament next year. We are poised to win and our next coach will find a great group of students, athletes, and opportunity to continue this success. She will always be a Panther and will still help as her new schedule allows. I am excited about our future and look forward to this next chapter of our bowling programs."

A national search for a new coach will be underway soon.
