TIFFIN, OH - The hits were there on Friday, but the runs were not, as the Kentucky Wesleyan Softball Team fell to Tiffin 9-4 and 7-1. The Panthers combined for 17 hits over the course of two games, but left 15 runners stranded on base, holding them back from grabbing a win.
Game One
Tiffin opened the game with a quick 3-0 lead, but Wesleyan pulled on back in the top of the fourth thanks to an RBI single from
Grace Colvin. Four runs in the bottom of the inning from Tiffin hurt Wesleyan's chances of a comeback, but they didn't go down without a fight. With the bases loaded in the fifth,
Megan Matheis hit a 2-RBI single to score
Shelbi Patterson and
Immi Mann.
Guinny Garr then knocked home
MaKenna Page to make it a three-run inning for the Panthers.
Those would be Wesleyan's last runs of the game, the Dragons managed to hold the Panthers scoreless over the final two innings, despite KWC putting runners in scoring position each inning.
Megan Matheis went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's in the game, while
Allie Dunn and
Immi Mann each added two hits.
Allie Dunn (6-16) struck out six in the loss.
Game Two
Timely hits weren't there for the Panthers in game two, as they were held scoreless for most of the game. Tiffin took advantage, going up 7-0 after three innings.
Grace Colvin singled home
Guinny Garr in the fourth, but that would be Wesleyan's only run, as they would fall by a 7-1 score.
Shelbi Patterson went 2-for-3 in the game.
Immi Mann (3-13) struck out two in the loss.
Wesleyan is scheduled to take on the Findlay Oilers tomorrow afternoon. First pitch from Findlay, Ohio, is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
