Panthers Drop Pair to Hillsdale

OWENSBORO, KY. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team dropped a doubleheader against Hillsdale College on Saturday at Foster Field. The Panthers were one hit away in the opener falling 3-1 before dropping game two 10-0 in five innings.

The Chargers (25-16, 11-3 GMAC) scratched a run across a run in the top of the first inning, but Allie Dunn ended the threat. The game remained tied 1-0 into the bottom of the third when Makenna Page reached second base on a one-out throwing error. Megan Matheis followed with an RBI single into center that tied the game. The Panthers would end up loading the bases in the frame with one out, but the Charges escaped without any more damage.

The game remained tied through five innings. In the top of the sixth Hillsdale broke the tie by getting the leadoff hitter aboard and eventually scored on a groundout. The Chargers would add one more run in the frame and hold back the Panthers in the bottom half of the sixth and seventh.

Dunn pitched a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Both Megan Matheis and Grace Colvin finished the game two for three.

In the second game the Chargers scored three runs in the top of the first. They added four runs in the third and two in the fourth. Kennedy Matheis and Colvin each recorded a hit in the game.

The Panthers will host Cederville on Saturday as Great Midwest play continues. First pitch at Panther Park is scheduled for 12PM.
