EVANSVILLE, IN - The hits are there for the Panthers, but the runs seem to be too far behind, as Kentucky Wesleyan fell 1-0 to Quincy and 7-0 to Missouri S&T on Saturday.
Game One
Allie Dunn (2-6) put together her best pitching performance of the year, allowing just one hit and run over the course of six innings. It wasn't enough, however, as Wesleyan failed to plate a run. The Panthers outhit the Hawks 7-1, and failed to record an error in the game, but a Quincy run in the bottom of the first was enough to do them in.
Guinny Garr and
Kennedy Matheis each recorded two hits for Wesleyan.
Game Two
Up 1-0 after four, Missouri S&T (6-4) pulled away late in the nightcap, scoring six runs in innings five and six to take this one 7-0. Wesleyan recorded just three hits in the game, and three errors allowed three runs to score for the Miners.
Shelbi Patterson,
Allie Dunn, and
Megan Matheis each recorded a hit for the Panthers.
Immi Mann (0-6) took the loss for the Panthers.
Wesleyan will look to end the Blue Bridge Battle on a high note tomorrow when they take on McKendree at 2 p.m. CT.
