NASHVILLE, TN. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team ended its season on Tuesday night with a 1-1 tie against Trevecca Nazarene University. In final meeting between the two team as Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponents, it was the Trojans who scored a late goal to tie the match.
It was a cold Halloween night in Nashville as the North wind swept across the field. The Panthers fired seven shots in the opening period six were on goal. Bailie Fiore was up to task making six saves to preserve a scoreless tie.
Conversely the Trojans (6-6-5, 6-3-5 GMAC) took five shots in the first 45 minutes, with one being on goal. The Panthers were able to break through as a yellow card on Trevecca resulted in a penalty kick for the Panthers (2-13-1, 2-11-1 GMAC) in the 48
th minute.
Chloe Hinchcliffe notched he fifth goal of the season, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
The Trojans came-up empty on their next five shot attempts, but in the 87
th minute Katelyn Keogh converted the equalizer. The Panthers had one more chance seconds later as
Steeley Walker saw her game-winning attempt saved by Fiore.
Both teams took 12 shots on the night, the Panthers recorded nine on goal to Trevecca's four. Hinchcliffe took five shots, four on goal.
Kassidy Elkin finished with three saves.
