NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team visit Great Midwest rival, Trevecca Nazarene on Tuesday night.
Diana Wesolosky collected 12 kills in the match, but it was the Trojans that held homecourt to record a four-set win.
The Trojans (11-6, 4-3GMAC) won the opening set 25-19 and built a 2-0 lead after winning the second set 25-18. Trevecca held a slim 14-13 lead in the second set before reeling off six of seven points to take control and build the two-set advantage. The Trojans hit over .300 in the frame.
For as successful the Trojans' offense was in the second set, the Panthers (2-13, 0-7 GMAC) were equally as dominate in the third frame. Wesolosky recorded a kill and two aces in the Panthers 10-1 run to start the third set. Wesleyan's cushion was too big for Trevecca to overcome as the Panthers won the third 25-19.
In the fourth, a 7-7 tie turned in favor of the Trojans. Trevecca ran off seven straight points to build a 14-7 lead and distance the Panthers, eventually winning the match 25-16.
Hallie McGuire added eight kills to go along with Wesolosky's 12.
Karrah Cron finished with 15 assists, 13 digs, and three kills.
The Panthers will return home this weekend as G-MAC play continues with Lake Erie College. The match is scheduled to start at 6PM.
