INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The 2022 Great Midwest Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll has been released, with the men projected to finish 13th and women at 10th.
On the men's side, the Panthers return sophomore
Landon Harper and
Tanner Hayes, as well as senior
James Loi. Harper and Hayes gained a lot of experience in their first year of college last season, setting multiple PR's in both the track and cross country season.
James Loi returns looking to go out with a bang in his fifth and final season in a Panther uniform. Sophomore
Zachary Hardin, who ran track last year, joins the teams for his first season of collegiate cross country. Freshman
Hayden McDermott joins the Panthers out of Somerset high school in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On the women's side, experience will be the name of the game for the Panthers. Seniors
Emery Crume,
Karlee Hoffman,
Lucy Knutson, and
Sarah Vanderhoof will use their experience to set the tone for the Panthers. Junior
Abby Greene returns after a successful sophomore campaign, while
Kate Keller and
Abigail Lesniak will be ready to work after their breakout freshman seasons. Head coach
Sol Stephens has four newcomers to this veteran team, with
Jaiden Davis (Avon, Ind.),
Yatziry Gallegos (Las Vegas, NV),
Raffa Gano (Las Vegas, NV), and
Caroline Parsley (Brownsville, Ky.) coming in to help beef up the Panther's depth.
Wesleyan will race in their first meet on Saturday, September 17 when they head to Nashville, Tenn. to take part in the Trevecca Nazarene Invite. The race will take place at Vaughn's Gap Park Course.
