EVANSVILLE, IN - Taking on some local competition this weekend, the Kentucky Wesleyan Men's and Women's Cross Country teams headed over to Evansville to take part in the Stegemoller classic, hosted by Southern Indiana. Competing in the meet was Wesleyan, USI, and the University of Evansville.
On the men's side, junior
Tanner Hayes ran the 6k course in a time of 20:34.3, putting him in 26th out of 40 runners. Freshman
Dominic Cashion put in a good showing for his debut race, as he was the second Panther to cross the finish line with a time of 23:27.3. Finishing just behind him was veteran
Landon Harper, who came through with a 23:29.1.
Zachary Hardin (25:48.9) and freshman
Blake Lancaster (27:24.9) rounded out the field for the Panthers.
On the women's side, Wesleyan's front three ran in an extremely tight pack.
Abigail Lesniak,
Kate Keller, and
Karlee Hoffman all finished within one tenth of a second from each other at 16:15.3 and 16:15.4. Sophomore
Raffa Gano finished with an 18:31.2, senior
Abby Greene in 18:44.6, and freshman
Maggie Jewell in a 19:06.4.
Both teams won't have to travel far for their next race, as they will take part in the WKU Invitational on Friday, September 15th in Bowling Green, Ky.
