OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's tennis team continued Great Midwest action on Saturday morning. The Panthers fought through a chilly morning and pushed one of the best teams in the G-MAC to the finish. Tiffin emerged with a 7-0 victory at Centre Court.
The Panthers (2-9, 0-3 GMAC) were a pair of break points away from winning the doubles competition.
John Thomas Hayden and
Dylan McDuffee lost the number one match 6-3 while
Kevin Giron and
Wesley Matthews dropped the number three match 6-4.
Hayden continued to put up a fight against the best players in the league as he lost the number one singles match 6-3, 6-4. The Dragon's (13-6 2-0 GMAC) Matthew Telford won the number three match over Lucas Hold 6-1, 6-2. McDuffee was shut-out in the opening set against Ruben Fonga at number two singles before falling 6-3 in the second set.
The Panthers will continue Great Midwest play on Friday against Cedarville. The match is scheduled for 2 PM.
