OWENSBORO, KY - Facing their GLVC foes from across the river, the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers used an incredible pitching performance from
Isaac Rose to defeat the Screaming Eagles 4-1.
KWC now moves to 16-21 (13-7 G-MAC) while USI falls to 15-21 (4-8 GLVC).
The teams were knotted up at 0-0 for the first three innings before Wesleyan put one on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly RBI from
Cameron Langston to score
Kyle Werries in bottom of the 4th.Â
Wesleyan added to their score with an RBI single in the 7th inning from
Ben Wilcoxson. A few batters later,
Robert Chayka scored thanks to an error by the third baseman, then Wilcoxson scored on the next at bat thanks to a passed ball. The 4-run lead would be all the Panthers needed as they took this one 4-1.Â
Isaac Rose (2-0) was phenomenal in the win, allowing no runs on just one hit in five innings pitched.
Ike Speiser came in to get his team leading sixth save in the final inning of play.Â
The Panthers will have a big G-MAC test this weekend when they head to Tiffin to face the #1 team in the conference. Games will be played on Saturday and Sunday with first pitch set for 12 p.m. CT on Saturday and 11 a.m. CT on Sunday.Â
