OWENSBORO, KY - After dominating the Malone Pioneers 8-0 in game one,
Hannah Scheberle came through in the cluch in game two, hitting an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game 2-1 give KWC their second walkoff win in as many days.
KWC now moves to 10-22 (3-3 G-MAC) while the Pioneers fall to 5-10 (1-3 G-MAC).
Game One
Thanks to a dominant pitching performance from
Mary Morgan (7-5), the Panthers had no troubles taking down the Pioneers in game one.
After a
Calysta Crum RBI in the opening inning, the Panthers scored seven runs in the 4th through 6th innings to win the game 8-0.
Hannah Scheberle was incredible in the game, going 4-for-4 and scoring two runs.
Calysta Crum went 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Emmaleigh Crook went 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
Morgan pitched all six innings and struck out two while allowing just four hits.
Game Two
Pitching was the name of the game in game two, as
Cameron Hamilton and
Mary Morgan allowed just one run on four hits to give the Panthers a chance to win it.
Grace Scott took advantage of an error by the second baseman in the fourth inning to reach first with
Sarah Linville up to bat next. Linville proceeded to hit an RBI double to score Scott and give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.
After a run by the Pioneers in the sixth,
Lacie Mills laid down a perfect bunt to get on base and give Wesleyan a chance. Facing two outs and looking like the game might go into extra innings,
Hannah Scheberle hit an RBI double to score Mills and give Wesleyan the sweep.
Hamilton gave up just four hits and struck out three in 5.1 innings of work, while Morgan came in and held the Pioneers without a hit in the final 1.2 innings of play.
Wesleyan won't play again until they host the Unversity of Indianapolis on Wednsday, April 6th at Foster Field. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT.
