Box Score 2 OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team split the opening day of the Independence Bank Blue Bridge Battle. The host Panthers lost to Missouri Science and Technology in their opening game, but ended that day with 3-1 victory over Davis and Elkins.
 
The Panthers (2-12) lost to Missouri S&T (6-2) 8-0 in the opener. 
Hannah Scheberle finished the game three for three.
 
Wesleyan got a strong pitching performance from 
Mary Morgan against Davis & Elkins. Morgan went the distance to earn her second win of the season. She allowed just a lone run on three hits while leaving 10 runners on base.
 
In the third inning the Panthers struck first as 
Grace Scott opened the inning with a ringing double. She eventually came around to score on Morgan's sacrifice fly. The Senators tied the game in the fourth frame as an error aided in getting the run across the plate. Morgan left the bases loaded and the Panthers back on offense.
 
In the bottom half of the fourth the Panthers struck again. The inning played out perfectly as the Panthers had runners on second and third with one out. After a groundout, Morgan double into the left field corner, plating a pair.
 
Wesleyan threaten in the fifth and sixth, but left runners on base. The Senators (1-8) had the top of the order due up in the seventh and got runners on first and third with two outs, but Morgan recorded the final out with her fourth strikeout of the game. Morgan finished two for two at the plate with a double and three RBIs.
 
The Panthers will play two more game at the Independence Bank Blue Bridge Battle on Sunday. Wesleyan will play Lindenwood at 2PM and Quincy at 4PM.
