FINDLAY, OH -
Joshua Moore leaped into the G-MAC record books on Saturday, tying the G-MAC Indoor Championship record with a leap of 2.10m (6-10.75). This is a new personal best for Moore as well as an NCAA provisional mark.
"Josh's jump shows that no matter the training area, basketball court, turf, outdoors, if you put in the work and do what is prescribed, results will come," said head coach
Sol Stephens.Â
Jayden Freeman set two personal bests in the meet, coming just .01 shy of reaching the 60 meter finals with a time of 7 seconds flat and jumping 6.41m (21-05.00) in the long jump.
James Loi also ran well, winning his 800 meter heat. with a new personal best time of 2:02.83. FreshmanÂ
Ashton Weaver ran a time of 8.92 in the 60m hurdles to set a new personal best. Wesleyan managed to score a point in the 4x400, as the team of Loi, Freeman,
Gordon Anaple, and
Keith Williams ran a time of 3:38.05 to take 8th.
Stephens stated that "Freeman ran really well this weekend. As long as he commits to the plan, he's only going to get better as the year unfolds. Weaver hit a big PR today, and if he continues to clean up his technique he will continue to improve tremendously. Overall we are steadily improving, are healthy, and have a chance to build for the outdoor season."
Loi said "I told myself before this race I wanted more. I listened to coach and finally went out smooth, and ran a PR by two seconds. Despite my tired legs my 4x400 leg felt smoother than usual. This team ran five PR's today and we scored in this meet. It goes to show you never know what will happen in a meet."
"I believed in myself, stayed consistent, and kept up a good rhythm, and that was a big part of of my big jump today" said Moore.
