CANTON, OH - After winning the first two sets 25-23, 25-22, the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team couldn't find one more set victory, falling 25-19, 25-20, 15-13 over their next three sets to drop this one 3-2 to Malone.
With the win Malone moves to 8-12 (5-6 G-MAC) while Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 4-15 (2-5 G-MAC).Â
The Panthers came out of the locker room hot, as an
Olivia Patton kill made it 11-3 Wesleyan early on in the opening set. After Malone charged back to take a 23-21 lead, the Panthers used kills from Patton and
Hallie McGuire to score four straight points and take the set 25-23.Â
Set two started the same as the first, with Wesleyan going up 11-7 early on. Malone came back to take a lead, and the teams went back and forth before two straight kills from
Ava Rebarchik sealed the set victory for the Panthers.Â
Malone came out strong and took sets three and four, before a back-and-forth battle in the fifth set was eventually won 15-13 by the Pioneers.
Hallie Mcguire (15),
Diana Wesolosky (14),
Ava Rebarchik (13), and
Olivia Patton (11) all reached double-digit kills for the Panthers.
Karrah Cron handed out 29 assists while her setter counterpart
Julia Kupper added 22.
Danielle Nelson (27) and Wesolosky (24) each set new career highs in digs.
Ava Rebarchik was a wall at the net, tallying six blocks.Â
The Panthers will take a break from G-MAC play next weekend when they head to Hammond, Ind. for the Midwest Region Crossover. Opponents and gametimes will come out early next week.Â
