FINDLAY, OH - Facing a Findlay side that was just one point in front of them in the G-MAC standings, the Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team faltered on Saturday, losing 4-1 to their foes from up North.
With the win Findlay moves to 8-5-1 (6-4-1 G-MAC), while Wesleyan falls to 7-5-3 (4-4-3 G-MAC).Â
For the second game in a row the opposing team got off to a quick start against the Panthers, as Findlay put one in the back of the net just 1:19 into the contest. Following that score, the game was played even for the next 25 minutes. In the 27th minute Findlay knocked one in again, going up 2-0. The Oilers then took advantage of some Wesleyan miscommunication to score two in the final five minute of the half and go up 4-0 at the break. The Wesleyan defense held strong in the second half, but a late
Theo White penalty kick wasn't enough as Wesleyan fell 4-1.Â
The Oilers only outshot the Panthers 11-9, but were much more efficient, scoring on four of their seven shots-on-goal, while Wesleyan couldn't find the net on any of their four shots-on-goal.
Hannes Gronevik notched two shots, including one on frame.
Arthur Hill made three saves in the game, while
Hannes Nilsson came in and notched a shutout second half.
Wesleyan has some extremely important games next week as they host Cedarville on Thursday, then travel to Northwood on Saturday. Thursday's kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.
