Panthers put up fight against nationally ranked Hillsdale

OWENSBORO, KY - For the first time this season, the Kentucky Wesleyan Volleyball team had fans for a home game, and they did not disappoint. Facing #17 Hillsdale, the Panthers fired on all cylanders and took set one 25-17. The Chargers came back, however, to take the final three sets and get the 3-1 victory.

With the win Hillsdale moves to 9-2 (3-0 G-MAC) while the Panthers drop to 2-9 (0-3 G-MAC).

The Panthers started out on fire in set one, using Hillsdale errors and a big block by Madelyn Hoskins and Lilly Trump to get out to a 9-1 lead.  KWC continued their dominance, going up 19-7 following a kill by Trump and an ace by Maggie Vincent. Hillsdale attempted a comeback, going on a 6-0 run to cut it to 22-15. Nicole Martin was having none of it, as her monster kill stopped the Charger's momentum and put the ball back in Wesleyan's hands. Two errors by Hillsdale gave the Panthers the 25-17 victory.

The teams were neck and neck midway through the second set, with the Panthers keeping pace on three kills from Martin and two from Diana Wesolosky. An 8-1 run by the Chargers put Hillsdale up 20-10, and it was too much for Wesleyan to overcome as the opposition took the set 25-17.

Hillsdale got up early in the third set and didn't look back, taking it by a score of 25-12.

KWC got up on the Chargers early in set four off of kills by Ava Rebarchik, Trump and Karrah Cron. Hillsdale went on an 11-3 run in the middle of the set to go up 21-11 and stem the hopes of a Wesleyan comback. Two kills by Hillsdale gave them the 25-15 fourth set victory.

Lilly Trump led the way with 12 kills, followed by Ava Rebarchik (10) and Nicole Martin (8). Karrah Cron continued her setting dominance, notching 33 assists on the night. Maggie Vincent led the Panthers with 21 digs.
