FINDLAY, OH - Although the Panthers were out shot 28-5, with just 10 minutes left in the game they saw themselves up 2-1 over the Oilers. The pressure eventually got to the Panthers, however, as Olivia Frank scored a goal with six minutes left in the game to knot the game up at 2-2. Overtime spelled doom for KWC, as Findlay scored just one minute into the period to give them the 3-2 victory.
With the win the Oilers move to 2-1-1 (1-0-1 G-MAC) while the Panthers drop to 3-3 (0-2 G-MAC).Â
The Panthers took control early as senior
Madisyn Hunt opened the scoring with a bullet into the back of the net just six minutes into the game. KWC wouldn't manage a shot for the rest of the half, and Findlay tied it up at 1-1 midway through the half.Â
The second half saw Wesleyan start off with a bang. Senior
Natalie Hinchcliffe opened the period with a goal just eight seconds into the half. The Panthers would only managed three more shots the rest of the half, however, and the late goal scored by the Oilers spelled doom for KWC's first conference win.Â
Natalie Hinchcliffe and Hunt each managed two shots in the game, while
Chloe Hinchcliffe had one shot.Â
Reegan Garrity was tested a lot in goal and made seven saves on the night.Â
Findlay led in both shots (28-5) and shots on goal (10-3).Â
Wesleyan will stay home for Homecoming weekend to take on Walsh and Malone in G-MAC action. The Walsh matchup will take place on Thurday at 7:30 p.m., while the game against Malone is Saturday at 5 p.m. Both games will take place at Panther Field.
