Panthers put up season high in points against Lindenwood

St. Charles, MO - In a game that saw 90 combined points and almost 1000 yards of total offense, the Lindenwood Lions came out on top, taking down the Panthers 56-34 in St. Charles, Missouri. LWU scored a consistent 14 points each quarter to propel them to victory.

With the win the Lions move to 1-2 on the season, while the Panthers drop to 1-2.

Lindenwood opened the game by scoring on their opening drive. Not to be outdone, Wesleyan went on a 15 play, 98 yard drive that ended in a 15 yard touchdown pass by Christian Arrambide to David Florence to tie the game up. LWU scored on their next drive to make it a 14-7 game after one.

The second drive finished the same as the first for the Panthers. Arrambide again connected with Florence for their second touchdown of the day to keep the pressure on the Lions and make it a 14-14 game. Lindenwood didn't let up, scoring touchdowns on each of their next two drives to make it a 28-14 game at half.

The first two drives of the second half were rocky for the Panthers, ending in an interception and a punt. The Panthers offense got a gift, however, as Jaden Santos-Lopez forced a Lindenwood fumble that was recovered by Jalen Wilson at the LWU 33. KWC took advantage, scoring on a 17 yard pass from Arrambide to Chauncey Greer to make it a 35-20 game. Following another Lindenwood TD, Quincy Perrin powered through the Lion's defense to notch his first touchdown of the game. After three quarters Lindenwood led 42-27.

Both sides of the ball struggled in the fourth quarter, as the Lions went up 56-27 before a Jatorian Dillard touchdown with 15 seconds left gave the game it final score.

Christian Arrambide led the Panthers with 284 passing yards, going 21-35 with three TD's and three interceptions.

Deonco Wilkerson had a breakout game rushing, going off for 74 yards on 13 carries. Jatorian Dillard rushed for 69 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

For the second straight week David Florence led the way receiving, catching 7 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Devyn Bledsoe was a man on a mission, tallying eight total tackles with three TFL and the Panthers only sack of the game. Jaden Santos-Lopez and Jalen Humphrey each forced a fumble.

As a team, Lindenwood led the way in total yards (499-498) and rushing yards (270-214). KWC led the way in passing yards, throwing for 284, compared to 229 by the Lions.

It's homecoming week next week and the Panthers will stay at home to face to face William Jewell College in a marquee matchup. Game time is set for 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.
