MASON, Ohio – Seven members of the Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team have been voted to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Devin Smith,
Cody Bridges, and
Ben Wilcoxson highlight the annual list with placements on the Frist Team.
CJ Fairchild,
Robert Chayka, and
Joseph Burke earn selections on the Second Team while
Drake Hamil garnered Third Team recognition.
Ben Wilcoxson finished second in the G-MAC with a .398 batting average. The Panthers' ninth-hole hitter has started every game this season at shortstop. He has recorded 12 doubles, two triples, and 26 RBIs. In addition, he has stolen nine of 11 bases.
Cody Bridges is fourth in the G-MAC with a .386 batting average. The Panthers' all-time hits leader collected 10 doubles this season with a pair of triples and 29 RBIs. He has also scored 35 runs on the year.
Devin Smith, the 2019 G-MAC Pitcher of the Year, finished the season ninth in the league with a 3.83 ERA. Smith finished the regular season by completing 49.1 innings with a 3-1 record. He ranked eight in the G-MAC with 58 strikeouts and second with 23 strikeouts looking.
CJ Fairchild highlights the Panthers' Second Team selections as he posted a 6-2 mark on the mound this season with a 3.04 ERA, a total that ranks second overall in the league this season. He has completed 53.1 innings with two complete games. Fairchild has allowed 25 runs in eight starts, 17 earned runs with 34 strikeouts.
Robert Chayka sits eighth in the league with a .374 batting average. He is a perfect six for six in stolen bases on the year. The Panthers' right fielder recorded nine doubles, a triple, two homeruns, and 15 RBIs through the regular season.
Joseph Burke hit .290 in the regular season with eight doubles and eight homeruns. The Panthers' slugging first baseman has driven-in 37 RBIs, a total that ranks sixth in the league this season. He is also one RBI away from tying the G-MAC's career RBI total as Burke enters the Great Midwest Conference Championship with 189 career RBIs.
On the Third Team,
Drake Hamil is the Panthers' lone representative. Hamil has made nine appearances this season with five saves. He has struck-out 12 on the year through nine innings of work.
