OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's tennis team dropped a 6-0 decision against Indiana University Southeast on Friday afternoon. IUSE edged the Panthers in most singles matches, getting an early break and holding to the finish.
The Panthers (3-5) lost the doubles point, but
Liz Smith and
Camron Blandford took the number two match 8-6. Long rallies highlighted the number two match as Smith and Blandford came away with the needed break point, swinging the match in their favor.
Singles were a different story. IUSE outlasted Wesleyan as they swept five singles matches. Smith fell in the number two match 6-2, 6-3 while Blandford lost the opening set of the number three math 7-5 before Kate Heuchen closed out the point with 6-0 win of the second set.
Ashton Frantz lost at number four singles 6-2, 6-3.
The Panthers will return to Great Midwest action on Saturday with a match against Walsh. The match at Moreland Park is scheduled to start at 10 AM.
