Panthers' Post Season Ends in Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team saw its season end in the post season with a 6-1 loss to Cedarville in the Great Midwest Conference Tournament. The Panthers last played in the G-MAC Championship Tournament in 2016. That season ended in the quarterfinals to Cedarville.
 
The Panthers (3-4-2) took advantage of their first post-season in over four seasons with an early goal. Wesleyan previously lost to Cedarville 2-1 at Steele Stadium earlier this spring. In the rematch it took the Panthers less than 13 minutes to get on the board.
 
easterdayJacob Boling found Max Wawrin maneuvering through the defense. Wawrin put the shot away through the lower left of the net and for his second goal of the season. The Yellow Jackets erased the Panther advantage in the 23rd minute as Mark Rowan connected on the equalizer. In the 26th minute Cedarville took control with another score.
 
The Yellow Jackets added another score before the end of the half in the 39th minute and took a 3-1 edge into intermission. They would add three more goals in the final 45 minutes to advance into the semi-finals.
 
The Panthers were outshot 31-6. Keeper Jacob Russ faced 13 shots on goal and made seven saves in his first start of the season. Jacob Lensing finished the match taking two shots. The Cedarville defense keyed on Julian Gonzalez who led the league in goals this spring with nine.
