Hillsdale takes down Panthers in Michigan

HILLSDALE, MI - Kentucky Wesleyan couldn't figure out the Hillsdale Charger defense on Saturday, turning the ball over four times en route to a 31-12 loss.

With the win, Hillsdale moves to 5-5 (4-2 G-MAC), while the Panthers fall to 3-7 (1-5 G-MAC).

The Panthers only gained one first down in the first quarter as Hillsdale scored twice to go up 14-0 after one.

Thanks to a QB hurry by Bishop Byrd, the Panthers were able to stop the chargers on their first drive of the 2nd quarter. The Panthers took advantage, as Jatorian Dillard capped off a 14 play - 80 yard drive with a four yard rushing TD to make it a 14-6 game. Just before the end of the half, the Chargers took advantage of a muffed punt and scored to make it 21-6 going into the break.

Hillsdale used a 60 yard kick return in the third quarter to put them in great scoring position to open the half. They would score a touchdown just a few plays later to make it 28-6 early in the third quarter. That would be the only score of the quarter as KWC would head into the final frame trailing by 22.

After giving up a Chargers field goal, the Panthers scored their final points of the game on a 37 yard touchdown pass from JaKwon Roberts to Joshua Moore. After a failed 2-point conversion, the Chargers would run out the clock on their final drive and the game finished with a 31-12 score.

JaKwon Roberts went 22-for-37 for 199 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. Jatorian Dillard rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown, while Peyton Peters led the receivers with seven receptions and 72 receiving yards.

Jalen Humphrey and Zac Thornton led the way with eight tackles each, followed closely behind by Armand Childs. Humphrey and Bishop Byrd each tallied a sack in the loss.

The Panthers will be back at home next week for their final game of the season as they host G-MAC newcomer Ashland on Saturday, November 13. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT.
