Panthers end season on a high note with win against Trevecca

OWENSBORO, KY - On a day honoring senior Zach Williams, the Panthers defeated the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in a thriller. Max Wawrin headed home the winning goal in the 83rd minute to give the Panthers the 3-2 victory. 

With the win the Panthers finish their season on a two game winning streak and close with a record of 3-12 (3-11 G-MAC). Trevecca closes their season with a record of 5-10-1 (4-9-1 G-MAC).

Adrian Stokke opened up the scoring early, putting away a goal in the ninth minute off an assist from Jake Peveler. Just under 10 minutes later, the electric Santiago Henrich received a pass from Peveler and knew what to do with it, putting it in the back of the net for the first goal of his young career. The Panthers went into the break up 2-0. 

Trevecca Nazarene came out firing in the second half, scoring two goals in the opening 10 minutes to knot the score up at 2-2. After the flurry of goals by the Trojans, the Wesleyan defense held strong, forcing Trevecca to take shots far outside the 18 yard box. After multiple attempts by the Panthers, they finally broke through when Max Wawrin headed in the winning goal in thte 83rd minute off yet another assist by Peveler.

Max Wawrin and Santiago Henrich each tallied three shots, while Henrich led the team with two on goal. Jake Peveler's three assists are tied for second all-time in KWC history, and his eight assists on the season put him in a tie for seventh all-time.

Matthew Meyer made six saves in the victory.

Trevecca led the Panthers in shots (24-12), but only managed a threeshot edge in shots on goal (8-5). Trevecca led 11-3 on corner kicks while KWC led the way in fouls 8-6.
