OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team suffered a four-set defeat to Tiffin University on Saturday. The Panthers continued the trend of getting off to a hot start, but the Dragons swung momentum in their direction winning the final three sets.
Nicole Martin completed a prolific game offensively which helped the Panthers get off to another great start. Wesleyan hit .212 in the opening set while Martin recorded six kills. The Dragons rallied from five points down in the opening set to tie at 21. After a Tiffin error, back-to-back kills from Martin gave the Panthers a 24-21 lead which they eventually turned into a 25-21 win of the opening frame.
In the second set, the Dragons and Panthers were tied at 18 before errors got the better of Wesleyan. Long rallies went the way of Tiffin as they evened the match after a 25-20 victory. Tiffin hit nearly .300 in the second set while
Diana Wesolosky recorded five kills in the frame.
Tiffin edged the Panthers in the third set 25-21 before ending the match with a 25-16 win of the fourth set. Martin finished with 18 kills and a .214 attacking percentage. Wesolosky added 11 kills in the loss.
Karrah Cron finished with 42 assists and 16 digs.
Maggie Vincent also notched 16 digs on the afternoon.
The Panther will travel to Painesville, Ohio on Friday for a match-up against Lake Erie. The match is scheduled to start at 6 PM CT.
