OWENSBORO, Ky. – The 2020 Academic All-District Softball team, selected by CoSIDA, was announced on Thursday with Kentucky Wesleyan College represented for the third straight year. Senior Lexie Mullen was selected to the District 4 First Team for the first time in her career.
The Owensboro native carried a 3.4 GPA while majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in English. Mullen is a two-time G-MAC All-Academic honoree.
Mullen finished her career with a pair of All-G-MAC First-Team selections and a NFCA All-Region nod in 2019. She posted a career .325 batting average including 198 hits, 36 doubles and 32 home runs. She drove in 150 runs, a Wesleyan and G-MAC record, while scoring 91 runs herself.
The infielder is no stranger to the record books, sitting in the Top 10 in 12 statistical categories in the career records at Kentucky Wesleyan and three at the G-MAC. Mullen owns the Wesleyan career record for home runs (32) which sits T-2nd in the G-MAC.
Mullen also made her mark in the single season records, appearing 19 times in Kentucky Wesleyan and four in the G-MAC. Arguably her most impressive feat, her name appears three separate times in the Top 10 single season marks for both home runs and RBI's at Kentucky Wesleyan.
This marks the programs third CoSIDA All-District selection. Centerfield Meredith Daunhauer received the honor in both 2019 and 2018.
Mullen is one of three selections from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference along with Bailey Byers (Malone) and MaKray Odom (Trevecca Nazarene). All three student athletes advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 8-11 by Division.
To be eligible for nomination to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and must be a starter or an important reserve.
· Note: Due to COVID-19, the 2020 ballot held career statistics instead of single season statistics.
