In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Kentucky Wesleyan student-athletes were invited to look back on their time spent as a Panther and share their thoughts on the recent events. These are their stories in their own words.

The world today looks and feels a little different. We went from a fast, paced and nonstop, busy life to our days being slow, full of "extra time," and quiet. The quarantine has us desperately trying to find ways to occupy our time and simulate our typical lifestyle.

I find it a little ironic because when we are in this go, go, go mode, we are always wanting more time or a break. It is heartbreaking to miss out on all the events that would be happening right now. I cannot begin to imagine the despair spring sport athletes are experiencing or players of the teams who made it to the NCAA tournament. Although my season came to a completed end, I simply miss being with my teammates at school and finishing out the school year in post-season with them.

This time is full of so many unknowns. Who would have won the NCAA tournament? What would our spring sports team have looked like and how far would they have gone? And the unknowns stretch to life beyond the field and court. When will we return back to work/ school? Will we find a treatment or vaccine for COVID-19? Why is this happening?

That last question is really in the heart of people all over the world. "Why is this happening?"

You know what is awesome about the quiet? It is when things are quiet and still, that we can hear the best. In this time of quiet and stillness, seek God and listen to what he is speaking to you. The distractions standing in our way of building a relationship with God have been eliminated - he wants our attention.

In Matthew 6:34, Jesus said, "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. (MSG)"

In this time of unknowns, turn to God. Listen and obey to what he is speaking to you. Find contentment and peace by reading His Word and having daily conversations with Him. Instead of finding ways to pack our day with unnecessary clutter, embrace the stillness by hearing what God is trying to tell you. He wants what is best for us and that starts by giving Him our attention.

Although I do not completely know the answer to why this is happening, see this time as an opportunity to grow with Christ, glorify him for all his blessings we have taken for granted in the past, and listen to what he is saying to you.

Stop to smell the roses and be blessed.
