INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team has swept the Great Midwest Athletic Conference West Division Players of the Week with Joseph Burke being named the Player of the Week and Alex Franzen earning Pitcher of the Week.

The Panthers went a perfect 5-0 last week during their trip to Florida including a late-inning rally to upset No. 28 Florida Southern.

In Wednesday's match up with the Mocs, Burke went yard three times, tying his own Kentucky Wesleyan and G-MAC record for home runs in a game.  On the day, he finished 4-for-5 at the plate with six RBIs.

Burke's final home run came in an 8-1 win over Saginaw Valley on Saturday.  The senior recorded a hit in all five games last week and has a hit in 11 of the 12 games this season.

On the year, Burke is team-high .415 with six home runs and 15 RBI's.  He became the conference's all-time leader in home runs last season with 37. He now sits at 43.

Franzen made the transition to the starting rotation this season and has had no trouble finding his groove.  He has reached double-digit strikeouts twice this season.

The senior picked up a pair of wins this week with wins over Florida Tech and Saginaw Valley. In Monday's win over Florida Tech, Franzen went 6.2 with five strikeouts.  In Saturday's complete game performance, he struck out 13 while giving up one run on four hits.
