OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team dropped two games on Sunday to conclude the Blue Bridge Classic. The Panthers fell 7-2 in their rematch with Rockhurst in the morning and in the final game of the weekend, No. 12 Indianapolis topped Wesleyan 6-2 at Foster Field.
Game One: Rockhurst -7, Kentucky Wesleyan -2
The Hawks (3-1) scored three runs in the first inning, all coming with two outs in the frame. Olivia Prather held the Panthers (0-8) to one hit for six innings as the Hawks built a 6-0 lead after three more runs in the fifth.
Lexie Mullen started the seventh with a single.
Mikayla Benson later followed with a one-out single to place runners on the corners for
Terrilynn Summers. Summers drove-in the Panthers first run with a single through the left side of the infield.
Andee Powell followed with another single to load the bases.
Wesleyan added another run on a pass ball, but the rally ended there.
Evyn Hendrickson pitched another complete game as she went seven innings, allowing seven runs, six earned on six hits with three strikeouts. Mullen finished the game two for three.
Game Two: No. 12 UINDY -6, Kentucky Wesleyan -2
The Greyhounds (5-1) took an early lead with a two-out, two-run homerun in the bottom of the first. They added another run in the third and three more runs in the fourth to build a 6-0 lead. The Panthers got on the board in the top of the sixth with
Madison Scott's RBI single.
The Panthers added another run in the seventh.
Meryck Hardley finished the game two for four.
Wesleyan will travel to Evansville on Saturday for the Midwest Regional Crossover. The Panthers will play West Liberty and Bellarmine on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM CT.
