OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team cruised to a 85-48 Great Midwest Athletic Conference win on Thursday night, defeating Ohio Valley for their 28th straight win at The Owensboro Sportscenter.
Wesleyan opened the game with a 19-3 run, shooting 5-6 from outside the arc in the first five minutes of play. The Panthers held a 29-10 lead after the first quarter thanks to seven three's.
The Panthers didn't step on the brakes in the second quarter, putting 28 more points on the scoreboard while shooting a game-high 73.3% in the second quarter alone. Wesleyan took a 57-22 lead to the break, the most points they've scored in the first half all season and the fourth time they've scored at least 50 points in a single half this year.
Keelie Lamb knocked back a three at the 8:20 mark of the third to put Wesleyan ahead by 38 for their largest lead of the game. The Panthers lead by double digits for over 34 minutes of action.
Jordyn Barga paced the Panthers with 14 points off the bench while grabbing five rebounds. Kaylee Clifford chipped in 13 with a trio of three's while Lamb recorded 10.
Lily Skye Grimes posted a team-high six assists while recording three steals.
Wesleyan scored 31 points off of 21 turnovers while scoring 38 points in the paint.
The Panthers remain home this weekend to host Alderson Broaddus at 12 pm CT at The Owensboro Sportscenter.
