BEREA, Ky. – It was a record setting Sunday for the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer as the Panthers defeated Berea 6-1. Madisyn Hunt made her mark in the record books with five goals on the day.
The mark is good for the program record of goals in a single game. The previous mark of four was set by five different players including Hunt during her freshman season. The five goals also ties for second in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference record book. Taylor Maclver (Ursuline) and Katrina Giantsopoulos (Davis & Elkins) also had five in a single game while Andrea Ortiz-Borray (Ohio Valley) notched seven in 2015.
Hunt's first goal came unassisted in the third minute. Less than six minutes later Berea responded with a goal of their own to knot the game at one. Hunt scored the eventual game winning goal in the 17th minute before scoring three goals in a seven minute span to give the Panthers a 5-1 lead at the break.
Maddie Kennedy and Madeline Clements picked up the assist on Hunt's second and third goal respectively while Erica Zetter was credited the assist on both her fourth and fifth.
Zetter got in on the scoring herself in the 80th minute for her first goal of the season. Sarah Haleman picked up the assist.
The Panthers outshot Berea 31-7 with 19 shots on goal. Taylor Rentchler played the full 90 minutes in net, recording three saves.
