Track and Field Competes at Governors Invitational

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College track and field team returned to action on Friday night, competing at the Governors Invitational hosted by Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn.

Jessica Hines led the women with a trio of third place finishes.  Hines posted a mark of 10.52-meters in the triple jump and 36.93-meters in the javelin.  The sophomore also finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:30.74.

In the shot put, Sarah Johnson reached 9.50-meters to place tenth.  Johnson finished 12th in the discus at 29.59-meters.

Teairra Payton, Aneya Hardin, Hines and Taleia Mason combined for a fourth place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, posting a time of 51.65.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Hines placed eighth at 16.49-meters with Lauren Hudson right behind in ninth at 18.18.  Hudson also placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 1:12.44.

On the men's side, Kennard Laribo tabbed a pair of top ten finishes.  The freshman took third in the 400-meter dash at 49.44 and seventh in the 200-meter dash at 23.01.

In the 1,500-meter run, Patrick Quire placed ninth with a time of 4:24.63.  Chase Bland finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run at 15:29.64.

Chase Gamble crossed in 19.19 in the 110-meter hurdles to place fifth.

A pair of Panthers finished in the top five in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  Collin Zollman took third at 10:30.54 with Aaron Lee finishing fifth at 10:40.34.

Drew Mason, Laribo, Keith Williams and Adam Bouchard teamed up to place fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a mark of 44.91.

For the second week in a row, Bouchard won the high jump, this time reaching 2.01-meters.  Bouchard also placed third in the javelin with a distance of 45.36-meters.

Keith Williams posted a pair of top five finishes, reaching 6.74-meters in the long jump to place second.  Williams placed fifth in the triple jump at 13.07-meters.

Trevor Miller placed in the top ten in three events.  Miller's best event was the shot put, placing fifth at 13.45-meters.  Miller placed ninth in the dicus at 36.27-meters and tenth in the hammer throw at 29.74-meters.

The Panthers return to action on April 20 heading to Lexington, Ky. for the Kentucky Open at the University of Kentucky for their final tune up before the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships on May 4-5.
