Three Panthers Earn Post-Season Awards

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The record setting year for the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team has not gone unnoticed. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced their post-season awards on Thursday evening with Jenna Martin and Keelie Lamb earning a First Team All-Conference honors. Lily Grimes was also named the league's All-Defensive Team.
 
Grimes started in 28 of the Panthers' 29 games averaging over 25 minutes a night. The second-year point guard is usually tasked with the toughest defensive assignments. Grimes has collected 29 steals this season to go along with the team's most assists, 97. She holds the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the G-MAC and ranks 48th in the country with a 1.80 ratio.
 
Grimes also averages eight points and four rebounds a night. This season Grimes reached a career-high four steals in a game on November 15th against Ohio Christian. She also snagged 10 rebounds on December 29th against Alice Lloyd.
 
Both Lamb and Martin are ranked in the top-15 in the G-MAC in points per game. Martin ranks 11th in the league with 12.8 average. On the year Martin has scored 370 points, pulled-in 98 rebounds, dished-out 75 assists, and collected 48 steals. Martin finished 20 games with 10 points or more, scoring a season-best 28 on January 12th at Alderson Broaddus.   
 
Martin ranks third in the G-MAC and 25th nationally with a .411 three-point shooting percentage. She is also ranked seventh in the conference in three-point field goals per game (2.1).  
 
Lamb averages 12.5 points per game, scoring 362 points this season. She has collected 127 rebounds while producing a team-best 67 steals. Lamb ranks sixth in the league in steals, ninth in blocked shots (23), and 14th in scoring.
 
The junior forward played in 29 games, making 28 starts thus far on the season. Lamb reached double-figures in points 19 times on the year. She recorded a career-high 27 points on November 15th against Ohio Christian. She also made a career-high five steals on February 14th at Malone.
 
The Panthers rattled off 15 wins in a row during the season and finished the regular season with a record of 22-6. Their 18-4 mark in G-MAC play put Wesleyan in a three-way tie for first place. The Panthers defeated Ohio Dominican 89-49 in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament on Tuesday and will face Cedarville on Friday night in the semi-finals.
