CLERMONT, Fla. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team opened its annual trip to the Sunshine State in dramatic fashion. The Panthers walked-off a 2-1 victory over Nova Southeastern as
Maci Brown earned the victory with a complete game, one-hitter.

However, Suka Van Gurp led off the top of the seventh with a solo homerun, breaking-up the no-hit bid. Van Gurp's blast carried over the left-centerfield wall and through the teeth of the wind, giving the Sharks (9-8) the 1-0 lead.
Unphased by the blemish, Brown continued to produce strikes. The next three batters went down in order setting the table for the middle of the Panthers' (3-4) order in the bottom half of the inning.
Jaylin Tidwell led-off with her second single of the game.
Lexie Mullen followed with a ringing double to the opposite field to put runners in scoring position with no-outs.
Abbey Winstead, down in the count, battled back to coax a walk. On ball four the ball got away from Sharks' catcher Aubry Hernandez, as Tidwell bolted for home. Tidwell slid under the tag to tie the game.
