VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team opened a three-game series at Valdosta State on Sunday, suffering a pair of losses in the double header.
Game 1: KWC 3 – Valdosta 13
The Panthers struck first in the top of the third, plating a pair of runs. Cam Curry stepped up with the bases loaded and one out, knocking a single to center field, scoring Ethan Maxey and Lane Kennemore. Wesleyan re-loaded the bases with still one out, but was unable to extend their lead.

Valdosta responded in the bottom of the frame, stringing together five hits to score six runs. The Blazers added three more in the sixth, and four in the eighth to take the first game of the series.
Curry was the lone Panther to tab two hits in game one, going two-for-three at the plate with two runs driven in.
Ryan Hundley took the loss after 2.2 innings of work with five runs off of four hits and one strikeout. Joey Lara worked 1.1 inning, giving up one run off of two hits. Bo Robison gave up three runs in one inning. Rylan Thomas worked 2 scoreless frames, striking out two. Jonathan Allen and Heath Brownley closed out the final inning with Allen giving up four runs off of three hits.
Game 2: KWC 1 – Valdosta 5
Wesleyan's offense struggled in the night cap, plating one run in the second inning. Zach Allen led off the frame reaching on a fielding error, then advanced to third after a walk and sacrifice bunt. Allen scored when Chase Andrews reached on an error by the second basemen.
The Blazers struck early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and tacking on a fourth in the second. Four hits in the fifth inning scored their final four runs.
Mitchell Jones suffered his first loss of the season, throwing 3.1 innings with four strikeouts, six hits and four runs. Nolan Johnson threw 0.2 innings, giving up two runs. Ian Ellis and Benton McGill each pitched one inning with Ellis allowing two runs off of three hits.
Wesleyan closes out the three-game series on Monday with first pitch set for 3 pm CT. The Panthers then head to Lakeland, Fla. for a three-game series with Florida Southern with one game each on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
