Wesleyan Hits Century Mark; Extends Home Win Streak to 26

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team picked up a monster non-conference win on Sunday, defeating Harris Stowe State University 101-39 after reaching the century mark for the second time this season.  The win extends the Panthers home win streak to 26, the longest in program history.

Wesleyan put up 53 points in the first half alone, marking the fourth time this season they've scored at least 50 points in one half.  It's the second most they've scored in a first half this season after posting 55 against Rockhurst in the first week of the season.

The Panthers started the game with a 9-0 run en route to taking a 23-9 after the first quarter.  Cali Nolot opened the scoring with a three-point play before Kaylee Clifford notched a lay up and a three.

Wesleyan shot 60.0% in the second quarter on 12-20 shooting from the floor and posting 30 points, their highest of any quarter.  Guard Lily Skye Grimes drained a pair of corner three's in the second for her first two three's of the season.

Rachel Richardson converted a pair of free throws to open the fourth quarter, putting the Panthers ahead by 40 points.  Emma Johnson knocked back a three in the final minute, giving Wesleyan their largest lead of the game at 62 and putting the Panthers over 100 points in a game for the second time this season.

Each Panther scored at least two points in the victory led by Johnson with 14.  Leah Richardson finishd with 12 while Keelie Lamb and Grimes posted 11 and Jordyn Barga chipped in 10.  Clifford paced the team with six rebounds while Kaylee Duncan recorded a team-high four steals.

Wesleyan recorded 22 assists marking the seventh time this season they've dished out at least 20 assists.

The Panthers return to action on Monday, December 30 hosting Cumberlands at 6 pm CT at The Owensboro Sportscenter.  Wesleyan then hits the road for arguably their toughest road trip of the season, facing Walsh on Thursday, January 2 followed by Malone on Saturday, January 4.  Kentucky Wesleyan, Walsh and Malone are the only three remaining undefeated teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
