Panthers Cruise to 20th Straight Win at The Sportscenter

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team cruised to their sixth straight win on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Lindenwood Belleville 93-45 at The Owensboro Sportscenter.  The Panthers remain undefeated on the year at 6-0 and extended their program record home winning streak to 20 games.
 
Wesleyan never trailed in their second largest victory of the season.  Kaylee Clifford notched the first basket of the game on a three-pointer with an assist from Cali Nolot.  Midway through the second quarter Leah Richardson knocked back a three to give the Panthers a 12-point lead as they went to lead by double digits the remainder of the game.
 
The Panthers took a 42-22 lead to the half after scoring 21 points in both the first and second frame.  Wesleyan shot 53.3% from the floor in the first half alone with draining six three-point baskets.
 
The second half opened with Wesleyan knocking back a three on three of their first four possessions.  Kaylee Duncan tallied one while Clifford made back-to-back three's.  Lamb capped off the 11-0 run with a pair of free throws.
 
Wesleyan opened the final frame with a 9-0 run including four points from Tahlia WaltonRachel Richardson tallied a three and a lay up before AJ Thomas worked hard in the paint for a lay up.  The ensuing possession saw another three from Rachel Richardson, giving Wesleyan their largest lead of the game at 52 points.
 
Four Panthers finished in double figures led by Walton at 18 points on 8-10 from field goal range.  Lamb recorded 14 while Duncan and Clifford both finished with 11.  Duncan and Clifford also led the Panthers with six rebounds each.  Jordyn Barga and Walton both grabbed five rebounds.
 
Lily Skye Grimes paced the Panthers with five assists followed by Richardson at four.  Wesleyan finished with 29 assists on 48 made shots.
 
The Panthers forced the Lynx into 23 turnovers with Barga recording a team-high four steals.  Lamb and Nolot each tallied three.
 
Wesleyan scored 26 points on fast breaks and dominated the paint, outscoring the Lynx 48-16.  The Panther bench outscored the Lynx 53-19.
 
The Panthers remain home this weekend hosting Missouri Baptist at 4:30 pm CT on Saturday at The Owensboro Sportscenter.  Wesleyan opens Great Midwest Athletic Conference play next week, hosting Ohio Dominican on Thursday and Tiffin on Saturday.
