OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team returned to the hardwood on Thursday evening with a 75-56 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University. After a bruising contest, the Panthers emerged with the season sweep over the Trojans. The victory also marks the fifth Great Midwest victory in six tries.
The Panthers (9-3, 5-1 G-MAC) trailed 7-5 early before
Emma Johnson tied the game from the charity stripe. Wesleyan ran the table to end the first quarter, embarking on a 11-0 run over the final five and a half minutes to take a 16-7 lead.
The Trojans (3-9, 2-4 G-MAC) opened the second frame with eight straight points to pull within one, 16-15. Every time the Panthers attempted to pull away, the Trojans kept closing the gap. Wesleyan did not enjoy a lead larger than five points in the second quarter and went into the locker-room even at 28.

With a slim 36-35 lead with five minutes left in the third period, the Panthers closed-out the quarter firing on all cylinders.
Kelsey Ivers gave Wesleyan its largest lead of the game, 12 points, late in the third quarter as the Panthers went into the final 10 minutes with a 54-45 lead.
Keelie Lamb, who was hampered with foul trouble throughout the first half, gave the Panthers 59-47 lead after a three-point play in the early moments of the fourth quarter. The double-digit lead only briefly dipped into single digits over the final eight minutes. The Panthers' defense allowed 11 points in the final quarter.
Jenna Martin finished with 15 points to lead the Panthers into the New Year. Both
Kaylee Clifford and Lamb added 13 points. Clifford also pulled in six rebounds on the night.
Lily Grimes added nine points and four assists.
The Panthers will travel to Elkins, West Virginia on Thursday as Great Midwest action continues. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 PM central time.
