ELKINS, W.Va. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team suffered an overtime loss to Davis & Elkins. Tied at 1-1 through the first half, the Senators found the game-winner in the 107th minute.
Early in the match Roxanne McFarlin found herself available and converted the first goal in the 17th minute. The lead was short lived as the Panthers (1-2-1, 1-1-1 G-MAC) found the equalizer in the 37th minute.
Erika Hinchliffe found Erica Zetter in traffic to tie the game. The goal stands as Zetter's first of the season. The Panthers took 12 shots in the first 45 minutes, four shot were on goal.
The second period saw both defenses shine as the game continued to be deadlocked. Wesleyan had three good chances in the final 10 minutes of regulation as Skylar Walden saw her shot blocked by the defense. The rebound went to Sidney Pruitt who had her shot saved by D&E keeper Lauren Hill.
Madisyn Hunt got loose in the in the 83rd minute, but her shot was flew wide of the Senators' net. The Panthers took two shots in the first extra period, but could not convert the game-winner. In the second overtime period, again Wesleyan had chances to end the contest.
Breigh Haase saw her shot saved by Hill in the early going. However, D&E ended the game with a Lisa Miliken goal in the 107th minute.
Madallyn Peveler took three shots on the night, two being on goal. Hunt finished with six shots on the night, one being on goal. Brittany Johnston made two saves on the night while Shelby Stearsman made three stops.
The Panthers return home on Thursday to host the University of Findlay. The match is scheduled to start at 5 PM.
