ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team was unable to get its offense going on Sunday, dropping a pair of games to Davenport University and Lindenwood University.
Game One: DU 6 – KWC 3
Wesleyan held a 2-0 lead after scoring one run in each of the first two innings. With one out and runners on the corners,
Lexie Mullen hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring
Maddie Dawson.
Heads up base running plated another run for the Panthers in the bottom of the second. With
Kaitie Woodard on third and
Jaclyn Parker on first, Parker broke for second, drawing the defense to second and allowing Woodard to sneak home.
Davenport scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth inning to take a two-run lead. Wesleyan cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out RBI double from Parker, scoring
Delaney Mixer. Davenport responded with two more runs in the top of the seventh to take game one 6-3.
Parker finished game one a perfect three-for-three at the plate with one RBI.
Meredith Daunhauer and
Jaylin Tidwell tabbed two hits a piece.
Evyn Hendrickson went the distance in her first loss of the season, striking out seven and allowing six runs off of 10 hits.
Game Two: KWC 0 – LU 2
A pitchers duel in game two saw both teams record six hits each. Lindenwood scored their first run on a two-out triple in the bottom of the third. The Panthers threatened with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the fifth but were unable to plate a run. Lindenwood extended its lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the frame on a two-out single to centerfield.

Maddie Dawson went two-for-two in game two while Daunhauer, Parker,
Andee Powell and
Abbey Winstead all recorded one hit each.
Autumn Grady suffered her second loss of the season, allowing two runs off of six hits over the six innings.
The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Midwest Regional Crossover in Evansville, Ind. Wesleyan will take on Maryville and Quincy on Friday, followed by Drury and UMSL on Saturday.
