ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team struck first against Davenport University but let a first inning lead slip away on Saturday, falling 3-1.

Meredith Daunhauer led off the game with a walk and reached second on a sacrifice bunt from Maddie Dawson.  Lexie Mullen put the Panthers on the board with a single to right field, driving in Daunhauer.

Neither team was able to score in the second or third innings but both threatened with runners in scoring position.  Davenport tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out RBI single then struck again in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs off of three hits.

Maci Brown struck out sixth and allowed three runs off of six hits over the six innings.  Daunhauer led the Panthers with two hits and two stolen bases.  Mullen, Jaylin Tidwell and Abbey Winstead each tallied one hit.

Wesleyan returns to action on Sunday, taking on Davenport again at 12:30 pm CT then Lindenwood at 3 pm CT.
