CANTON, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team fell 102-68 to Walsh University on Saturday afternoon.
Malek Harris recorded a double-double, but it was not enough to lift the Panthers to a Great Midwest victory.
Harris helped the Panthers (14-13, 8-9 G-MAC) get off to a quick start as his free throws gave Wesleyan a 10-3 lead within the first three minutes of the game. A 9-0 rally by the Cavilers (17-6, 12-5 G-MAC) over the next two minutes established a two-point advantage. The contest remained tight as Harris' lay-up with less than six minutes left in the period cut the deficit to 29-26.
The Cavs ended the half with a late run to take a 46-34 lead. The start of the second saw Walsh build a 20 point lead, starting the frame on a 12-4 run. As fouls began to mount-up, the Panthers could not find the rhythm of the game to mount another come back.
The Panthers shot 39% for the game while Harris led with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Brandon Hatton added 13 points while
Rasheide Bell chipped-in 10 points.
The Panthers will be on the road Thursday for a rematch with Alderson Broaddus University. Tip-off in scheduled for 6:30 PM CT.
