NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University on Tuesday night to close out the 2018 campaign.
Less than nine minutes into the game, the Panthers earned a corner kick that they took advantage of. Jake Peveler tucked the ball into the far post with a header for his first goal of the season. John Landry picked up an assist on the goal.
Just over three minutes later Wesleyan netted another goal to go up 2-0. Peveler chipped the ball over the defense to Ben Protheroe who found the back of the net.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead to halftime. Trevecca scored late in the 81st minute but the come back bid was too little too late as the Panthers held on for the 2-1 win.
Peveler led the Panthers with four shots while Julian Gonzalez tallied two. Greg Melvin, David Flores, Austin Moore and Protheroe all recorded one shot.
Lucas Daunhauer picked up his second win of the season in net, making four saves and allowing one goal in 90 minutes of play. The freshman finished the season ranked tied for third in the nation in total saves at 91.
