COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team picked up an important road Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory on Friday night. Wesleyan defeated Ohio Dominican in four sets as Jaylen Mcewen finished with a match-best 15 kills.
The Panthers (6-11, 2-5 G-MAC) opened with 15 kills in the opening set against two errors in taking a 1-0 lead. Wesleyan won five of the first six points to start the set and traded points late to produce a 25-19 win.
The Ohio Dominican Panthers (2-12, 1-5 G-MAC) held an 18-13 lead in the second and looked to even the match. Wesleyan rattled off four straight points to pull within one, but managed to pull even at 23 after Daniele Brouillette's kill. An ace brought ODU to 26-25, but
Nilah Roy and Mcewen reversed the tide with back-to-back kills that eventually led to a 28-26 win.
Ohio Dominican avoided a sweep with a 25-18 victory in the third set. Wesleyan took control midway through the fourth set 19-15 as ODU could not counter the run down the stretch, falling 25-21.
Brouillette added 11 kills and six blocks on the night.
Courtney Gildea produced 23 assists while
Hannah Pierce had 13 digs.
